Plug-in solar savings calculator

Estimate what a plug-in (balcony) solar kit saves per year in your state — using your state’s average sun hours and electricity rate.

Home during the day, or running fridge/router/AC? Keep it high. Away all day with no battery? Lower it.

How this is calculated

Annual production = watts × state peak sun hours × 365 × 0.77 (wiring, inverter and temperature losses). Savings = production × your self-consumption share × state average residential rate (EIA estimate). Plug-in systems are usually not compensated for exported power, so unused production is counted as zero. Estimates only — panel orientation and shading can move results ±30% or more.
